Matching Community Standards

Last updated: August 29, 2026

This document covers Mahj Match, our feature that proposes a table of players to each other based on location, availability, and preferences. It works alongside the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy.

Mahj Match is for adults 18 and over, only

The rest of Find My Mahj Game (listings, search, teacher and event directories) is open to everyone. Mahj Match is different: it is limited to adults 18 years of age and older.

Before you can use Mahj Match, you must:

  1. have an active account,
  2. explicitly affirm that you are 18 or older, and
  3. explicitly opt in to matching.

We record the date and time of your affirmation and your opt-in, along with which version of this consent language you agreed to. If we materially change what you are agreeing to, you will be asked to consent again before matching continues on your behalf.

What we share, and when

Matching works in stages, and we share more about you only as you and the other players move through those stages together.

  1. You set your preferences. City and general area, a travel radius, your availability, your preferred mahjong variant, your skill level, and simple preferences about social style, hosting, and group size. This information is used to find compatible players; it is not published anywhere.
  2. We propose a table. When we find a good match, we propose a table to a small group of players. At this stage, each proposed player sees only first names and the shared compatibility facts (general area, availability, and similar) of the other proposed players, never full names, exact addresses, or contact information.
  3. You accept or decline. You can accept or decline a proposed seat. Declining releases your seat and does not notify the other players who you were.
  4. The table forms. Once every seat is accepted, we email everyone that the table is confirmed and show the table page with first names, day, time, and general area. We do not share email addresses or phone numbers; the group decides together how to exchange contact details for the actual game.

We never share your exact home address through matching. If a game is hosted at someone's home, the location is described generally (for example, city and neighborhood) until the group is confirmed, following the same privacy protection we apply to all listings.

Your control

You can withdraw from matching at any time, which stops any future proposals. Withdrawing does not remove you from a table you have already accepted; leave that table separately if you need to. You can decline any proposed seat with no explanation required.

Blocking

You can block another user. Once you block someone, we will not propose a table that includes both of you, and blocking is one-directional: you do not need the other person's agreement or awareness for it to take effect.

Reporting

You can report a user or a specific interaction. When you report someone, tell us what happened; we sort reports into categories (harassment, spam or scam, safety concern, false identity, or other) to help route them.

  • Reports we consider low-risk based on the category and detail provided may be resolved through our standard review process.
  • Reports that raise a safety concern, or that we cannot confidently sort automatically, are flagged for a person on our team to review by hand. We never auto-resolve serious reports.
  • We will not tell the person you reported who reported them.

Community standards while using Mahj Match

  • Be honest about who you are. Misrepresenting your age, identity, or intentions to access matching or a proposed table is a violation of these standards and our Terms of Use.
  • Treat other players with the respect you would want at a table in person. Harassment, discrimination, and unwanted contact are not tolerated and will result in removal from matching, and from the platform if serious enough.
  • Do not use a proposed table or a confirmed match to solicit, sell, or advertise anything unrelated to the game.
  • Respect a decline or a block. Attempting to contact someone outside the platform after they have declined or blocked you is a violation of these standards.
  • If something about a match or a person feels wrong, trust that instinct, decline or leave, and report it. You are never obligated to meet anyone Mahj Match proposes.

Our review process

We review reports, and we can remove a user from matching, or from the platform entirely, based on a violation of these standards. If we remove or restrict you for a violation, we tell you the general category of the violation. We never reveal who reported you or any detail that could identify a reporter. You may send one written appeal to hello@findmymahjgame.com; a person on our team reviews it, with a target of 7 days. We are not a party to any in-person meeting arranged through Mahj Match, and the safety guidance and liability terms in our Terms of Use apply fully here.

Changes to this document

We may update these matching terms and community standards. If a change materially affects how your information is used or shared, we will ask you to review and re-confirm your consent before matching continues.
